Caring for wooden toys

The Pip workshop

A damp cloth, a little beeswax and never the dishwasher: how to keep wooden toys looking new for years.
It starts with the wood
We work with beech, birch, maple and oak from forests that are replanted, cut in the workshop and dried slowly so the pieces stay true. Every edge is rounded by hand before a child ever touches it.
Colour you can trust
The paints are water-based and the finish is plant oil and beeswax, tested to the European toy standard. Nothing flakes, nothing smells, and a toy that goes in a mouth is fine.
- Wipe with a damp cloth, never soak.
- Rub in a little beeswax once a year.
- Keep out of strong sun so the colours stay bright.

Made to be handed down
A good wooden toy outlives the childhood it was bought for. We make ours to be passed on to a brother, a cousin or a grandchild.
Simple toys, played with for years.
